The Sétimo Ano de Praia Beach Support Facility, designed by Lousinha Arquitectos, is a remarkable architectural achievement. This fully serviced facility, located in the picturesque Praia da Barra in Ílhavo, adheres to the Ovar–Marinha Grande Coastal-Zone Management Plan, which has been in effect since 2017. The plan mandated the facility's relocation east of the boardwalk, leading to the demolition of the existing structure. The architects' innovative approach is evident in the building's annular geometry, which serves multiple purposes. It provides shelter from prevailing northerly winds on the south-facing terrace and minimizes visual impact by aligning the ring's internal void with one of the dune's highest points. This design not only respects the natural environment but also draws inspiration from centuries-old symbolism, as the circular plan has long been associated with unity, harmony, and eternity, fostering a sense of spatial continuity. The project's gallery showcases the intricate details and unique features of this beach support facility, offering a comprehensive view of the architects' vision and execution.
